Today was GORGEOUS. The sun was shining, it was 70 degrees, and I got a 20 miler in. Running on sore/tired legs takes running to a whole new level. I couldn’t tell you the amount of times I wanted to quit. I am so glad that I got the miles in, and I can now relax. Although I don’t feel confident about hitting my desired pace on race day (especially since I pulled a muscle in January and didn’t get to start training until February), I will have to remind myself to stay optimistic!
I think that running is definitely more of a mental sport. You tell yourself you can/can’t, and it affects your whole performance. I am extremely guilty of doubting myself, but it’s amazing what the human body can accomplish.
On a more exciting note, last Friday I had McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish (yes, I find food to be very exciting)! The last time I had that was sophomore year of high school. Uhm, that was 9 years ago. I ate it like a champ, and of course Kanye’s song was playing in the back of my mind, “What she order, fish filet?” Not only did I have that, but I ordered fries and a milkshake from Chick-Fil-A. As much as I LOVE sweets, my body was not used to the fast food meal. My body shot down, and I was knocked out within minutes.
Anyways, as I digress, two music that helped me keep moving my legs during today’s run:
School Boy Q- The Purge/ Rapfix Cypher (20 syl Remix)
2Pac- Old School (Cookin’ Soul Remix)
It’s supposed to rain the next couple of days over here, but I hope you enjoy the rest of your week!
