The Boot.

I officially have a boot.  Not the most exciting news, but hopefully this will stabilize my foot more.  The doctor said that there is no way to speed up the recovery process.  BUT I am hopeful.  I am doing just about everything possible to heal it quicker than what I was told.  Initially I was told July 25th, but after going back to the doctor last week, I was told September at the earliest.  Don’t let that smile fool you- I was not necessarily happy about the boot!
bootFive things I have been doing:
1) A LOT of prayers!
2) Noni.
There are a lot of benefits for noni.  I drink about 1/8-1/4 cup first thing in the morning.
3) Essential oil.
I did some research for essential oils, and I mixed some lemongrass and peppermint oil in some olive oil (I used this as the carrier oil).  The lemongrass is supposed to help alleviate muscle pain and apparently the peppermint oil enhances the effectiveness of this.  I guess we will see if this works.  Who knows, it might just be a psychological thing, but I’m willing to give it a try!
4) Gelatin.
Gelatin is great for collagen repair.  I add it to my oatmeal in the mornings.  It does have a little bit of a taste, but it’s not too bad.  I found THIS recipe that I will be trying sometime this week!
5) Ice.

Anyways, enough about my foot! This little Basil plant grew FAST! If anyone needs some basil, you know who to call! ^_- Basil comes in handy for caprese salads!
basilcapreseInstead of the usual Saturday pancakes, I had the special! Crab cake on top of jalapeno cornbread! It was SO good! crabOn Monday, I roasted a whole cauliflower for the first time.  It actually turned out pretty good!

FullSizeRender (7)As far as exercises, I’m not allowed to bike or lift weights.  I did go swimming, but I’m not allowed to kick off and do any sort of pool running or anything.  So for now, I am sticking to push-ups (I can’t be in the plank position, so I do this with my knees down) and a variety of sit-ups! I walk about 2-3 miles at work, so I try to stay off of my feet as much as I can when I’m off work.  On a very exciting side note, EVERYONE, TOMORROW IS NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY!!!!!! I LOVE ice cream. In fact, I ate close to a pint just last night! Once upon a time, I ate a gallon of ice cream in two days.  Yeah, I probably should not be happy about that….but these songs are pretty great! Enjoy!
